Edward H. Jankowski

February 18, 1957 — December 16, 2020

Edward H. Jankowski, 63, of Norwalk, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, December 16, 2020. He was born February 18, 1957 in Poland to his father Czeslaw Jankowski and mother Teresa Jankowska.

Edward grew up in Krakow Poland. In his younger years he was passionate about sailing throughout Poland and on the Baltic Sea, including building a boat and sailing with his close friends. He studied at the prestigious Jagiellonian University in Krakow which culminated a masters degree in computer science.

He served in the Polish Army. In 1981 he married Danuta Pawlowska. They had 2 children, Maciek and Anna.

After years of trying they immigrated to the United States (Norwalk, CT) in 1988. In 1991, Edward and his father Czeslaw took ownership of Artistic Iron Works where they worked side by side as blacksmiths until Czeslaw's retirement. He then managed the business with his sister, Renata, and son, Maciej. Edward was extremely committed and passionate about his family and to his work.

Edward loved to travel, and see various parts of the world. He and his wife were able to explore various countries and cultures, always looking for an opportunity to see new places.  They rarely traveled to the same place more than once. His love of sailing never went away, and they took opportunities to see and sail on boats when possible.

Despite having MS, he did not let it slow him down and lived his life on his terms. Edward was active in the local MS Society group in Norwalk. He loved spending time with his dogs, playing cards, (especially bridge) and working on puzzles at home.

Edward saw both of his children get married, and adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Edward is predeceased by his mother, Teresa Jankowska.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years Danuta Jankowska, his father, Czeslaw Jankowski, his sisters; Lucyna Pawlowska and her husband Andrzej Pawlowski, Elzbieta Bober and her husband Zbygniew Bober and Renata Singh and her husband Raj Singh, his son Maciej Jankowski and his wife Maryann Jankowski and daughter Anna Gonzalez and her husband Albert Gonzalez, and grandchildren Dylan Gonzalez and Olivia Jankowski.
