Edna “Gaby” Lester

Edna “Gaby” Lester (Huck) was born in Westport, Connecticut on August 1, 1927, to William and Florance Huck. She passed away peacefully at Norwalk Hospital on January 29, 2026, at the age of 98. Gaby spent her entire life in Connecticut, making it her beloved home.

Gaby enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepointing, and sewing. Her true passion, however, was music. She taught herself to play the piano and organ and loved sharing her musical gifts. Gaby taught piano lessons, arranged and played music for theatrical productions, and brought comfort to residents at senior facilities with her performances. For more than seventy years, she served as the accompanist at Community Baptist Church in Norwalk. Her music brought warmth and joy to every church service, creating cherished memories for the congregation. Gaby’s friendship with Pastor Gregory and Annette Sanders was special; she often spoke fondly of their kindness and support, and her music deepened their bond within the church community.

Gaby was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florance Huck, and her younger brother, William Huck. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Mary Lester of Illinois; her grandson, Brian Lester of Florida; and two great grandsons, Reef and Maverick Lester, also of Florida.

A private ash scattering ceremony for immediate family and close friends will be held at Campo Beach in Westport on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Following this, a public memorial service and repast will take place at 11:00 AM at Community Baptist Church, 105 East Ave, Norwalk, Connecticut. The memorial events honor Gaby’s life and legacy, celebrating the joy she brought to her family, friends, and community.
