Dorothy Mary (Brown) Wright was born to William Raymond Brown and Mary Mable (Cummings) Brown on 11/28/1925. She grew up in Roscoe, IL and Rockford, IL. Dorothy graduated from Rochelle High School in 1943, and Ohio Wesleyan Univ with degrees in business and psychology in 1948. After college, she lived in Chicago and worked at Univ of Illinois as events manager.
Dorothy married Paul G Wright in 1952 and lived happily together until his passing in 2018. They lived in St Louis, Mo, then Scarsdale, NY and the last 44 years in Wilton, Ct. She loved life and every place she ever lived. In Wilton, Dorothy was active in the Women’s Club and senior center for many years. She was an excellent bridge player with a passion for playing. Dorothy took up golf later in life and was a member at Shorehaven Golf Club with husband Paul for 35 years. She loved people and was a friend to all throughout her life. She was very friendly and was one of those people you liked as soon as you met her.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory three children, Terry Wright of Norwalk, CT, David Wright and wife Rosemary of Dallas, TX, and Michael Wright and wife Catherine of Gilmanton IW, NH. Also, two grandchildren, Jacqueline Wright and Dylan Wright, brother Carlton Brown and wife Margaret of Graton, CA, niece Valerie Brown Baptista and husband Jim and their children Jasmine and Milo of Sebastopol, CA, cousins Roger Cummings and wife Barbara, David Cummings and wife Phyllis of Rockford, Ill. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Raymond Brown in 2010 and many of her cousins. She loved growing up within a large family in Illinois and family was one the most important things to her. Dorothy was also very proud of her Scottish heritage.
Dorothy will be buried at the Scottish cemetery in Argyle, IL at a date still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wilton Senior Center
