Dorothy G. Schnable , a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Rosenthal Hospice Residence of Stamford following a lengthy illness. She was 75. Her beloved husband , Jules J. Schnable passed away in 1982. Born on May 27, 1934 in Norwalk, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Anthony and Eva (Charron) Gregory and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1952. Dorothy and her husband, Jules owned and operated the former Jules Cleaners of East Norwalk until its closure in 1986. After the closing she worked for H&R BLOCK of Norwalk as a receptionist for nearly fifteen years. She also worked as a telephone operator for AT&T for over ten years. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She also enjoyed her trips to the Casinos in Connecticut and Atlantic City with her friends and family. But most of all, her family was her life and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Roy F. and his wife, Sharon Kempf of New Canaan and Gregory A. Kempf of Norwalk; one daughter, Karen A. and her husband, Dwight Ormsbee of Norwalk; two step-daughters Barbara Kelco of N. Granby; Hali and her husband Gerry Keeler of Groton; seven grandchildren, Shannon, Jaime, Jodi, Brandy, Jason, Emily and Eva; eight great-grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Riley, Shawna, Amber, Georgiana, Logan, and Jewel and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her loving companion of many years James Mace. Honoring Dorothy's wishes, all services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
