Doris Randall

August 18, 1921 — April 23, 2015

Doris Belle Farrar Randall peacefully passed away on April 23, 2015 at Kendal on Hudson, an assisted living facility in Sleepy Hollow, New York. She was born to Edward and Alice Farrar on August 18, 1921 in Bridgeport, CT, where she grew up with five sisters and one brother. After high school in Bridgeport, Doris attended Lincoln Nursing School in New York City, becoming a Registered Nurse and was hired at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. Doris met her future husband Robert J. Randall at a social function and they were married on March 30, 1946. After living and working in N.Y.C for a few years, they moved to the neighborhood of Silvermine in Norwalk in 1958. She was hired by Norwalk Hospital and was Director of the YMCA Day Care Center - The Children's Corner that was located at the corner of West Avenue and Maple Street in Norwalk. Doris and her husband enjoyed travelling and were fortunate to explore the world, visiting many diverse places. She was a member of several social organizations,The Links Inc, a member of the Fairfield County Chapter of Chums and along with her family, she was a member of the Quaker Meeting House in Wilton, CT. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, her mother Alice Farrar, her sister Edna Grant and brother Joseph Farrar. She is survived by her sisters, Lilyan Russell, Geraldine Johnson, Natalye Clarke and Laurayne James, sons Robert J. Randall, Jr (Antoinette) and Peter E. Randall (Madeline) a daughter Juliet Bailey, two granddaughters, Elizabeth Bailey and Christina Randall, step-grandson Mario Flores, two step great-granddaughters, Damaris and Deanna and a host of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 10am until noon at the Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home located at 5 East Wall Street in Norwalk.
