Doris Anne McKee

Doris Anne, age 92, died August 12, 2025, at her home in Norwalk surrounded by family members and loved ones. She was born to Riley and Hazel Vantine in Detroit, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Robert B. McKee, III (Bob) as well as by her brothers, Jack and Russ. She is survived by her sister, Linda Cole of Grand Rapids, MI,daughter Lynne of Norwalk, sons Kevin (Colleen) of Scarborough, ME and Robert (Tina) of Middletown, CT and 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was very active in a number of community, church and social groups throughout her life where she made many great life-long friends.

She was a source of inspiration and joy for a multitude of young individuals in Norwalk through her involvement with mentoring and Youth Fellowship groups at the First Congregational Church on the Green. She also served as Church Secretary at the FCC and was a deacon and lay minister there while also being active in numerous social action groups there and in town. After Bob was afflicted with Alzheimer’s she started a non-denominational Alzheimer’s Support Group at the Church that is still ongoing and a source of compassion and relief for many.

Doris’s welcoming and loving spirit was felt in many ways by many people. Whether it was inviting Muslims to Easter Dinner, hosting Fresh Air Fund Children, or accepting Lynne and Kevin’s extended families and friends, there was always room at the table.

She will be missed.

A celebration of Doris’s life will occur at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Family will greet friends for a half hour preceding the life celebration which will be followed immediately after by a reception in the Church Parrish Hall.
