Donna Marie Hewitt

June 28, 1966 — November 21, 2024

Donna Marie Hewitt, 58, of Norwalk, CT, passed away on November 21st due to cancer. Donna was born on June 28, 1966, to Bob (Robert) & Kath (Katherine) Soper in Auckland, New Zealand.

Donna moved to Christchurch as a baby, & later attended Heathcote Valley Primary School, then Linwood High School. She also obtained a Business Studies Diploma at Christchurch Polytechnic. Donna worked at the Post Office as a Data Entry Operator, which later split to Telecom, and then Yellow Pages. Donna moved into Sales, with a notable achievement being the top Sales Repetitive for her region, so was awarded a paid trip for 2 (with Wayne Hewitt) to Club Med in New Caledonia. Donna meet her husband of 33 years, Wayne Hewitt, while working at the Post Office. They have 2 children, Chase & Maren.

Donna was predeceased by her father Bob Soper, & father-in-law Peter Hewitt.

She is survived by her mother Kath Soper, & Mother-in-law Alison Hewitt. She is also survived by her sister Tracy (& Lenny) Fleete & Tania Soper, & sister-in-law Tania Hewitt, & brother-in-law Mark Hewitt. There are also many nieces & nephews on both sides of the family.

In New Zealand, Donna loved Marching at a younger age, being very active with the award winning "Phoenix Rangers Marching Team" that used swords. Donna also loved camping with family & friends, & hiking to many great places in New Zealand with family & friends. Donna & Wayne also did significant travel together, including Australia, Asia, Europe & the USA. She also played sports like Touch Rugby, Indoor Netball, & Cycling. Donna & family moved to the USA in 2007, where Donna continued her career, working for a short time for Parkway, & then for Norwalk Public Schools, initially as temporary substitute teacher, then with many years at Fox Run Elementary School as a Teacher Aide & Reading/Math Interventionist. Donna also worked at “Before the Bell”, “After the Bell”, & FRC programs. Donna made a big impact on many students, & was always willing to help Teachers & Staff. In the USA, Donna continued her love of travel, having many great road-trips with the family, including 6 cross-country road trips, & many other trips, including 2 total eclipses of the sun (in South Carolina & Arkansas). Donna loved a great coffee, so many local coffee shops were visited, as were amusement parks, water parks, & National Parks, etc. Donna fully supported Chase with sports & getting his Eagle Scout. This included Pack 68 in Cub Scouts & Troop 2 & 222 for Boy Scouts. Donna also fully supported Maren at sports, and especially liked Norwalk River Rowing, where Donna was a frequent volunteer, & attended many trips. Donna even did a bit of rowing which she loved.

A memorial service will be held at Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall St, Norwalk, CT, on December 14, 2024, from 2pm to 5pm.

The family don't seek gifts, food, flowers, or financial assistance, so are best supported by sharing great memories of Donna. Wayne, Chase, & Maren Hewitt
