NORWALK, CONN. Donald F. Reid, Esq. of Norwalk, Conn passed away peacefully at his home on his 68th birthday, Saturday, April 18, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Don was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 1941 son of the late Stephen and Rose (Maher) Reid. He grew up in Floral Park, NY and graduated from Chaminade High School, St. John's University and St. John's University School of Law. He was a member of the New York and Connecticut Bar Associations and started his law career in Westchester County. For the past thirty years he has practiced law in Norwalk, Conn. Mr. Reid served as the Corporation Counsel for the City of Norwalk under Mayor Frank Esposito for almost ten years and up until the time of his death, he served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel under Mayor Richard A. Moccia. He was known throughout the community for having a great legal mind and a generous heart. He was a member of the Norwalk Board of Education for ten years and served as Chairman of the Board for two terms. He was an avid sailor and crewed races throughout the years with his many friends from Shore and Country Club. Don had a passion for skiing and had so many wonderful memories spending time in Vermont. He was a Commandeur of La Confrerie des Chevalier du Tastevin wine society. Don was also a huge NY Giants and Mets Fan, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Don is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Winifred "Winky" (Buhrman) Reid; his daughters, Jamie Klein and her husband Eric of Westport, Liz Reid of Norwalk and PJ Hogan and her husband Jim of Stamford; his step-children, Thea Tsirinides and her husband George of Norwalk, Ralph Roina and his wife Lisa of Norwalk and MJ LeBlanc and her husband Ryan of Norwalk. Grandpa Don will also be missed by his nine grandchildren, Jessica and Stevie Klein, Abby and Kate Hogan, Yanni, Kiki and Dean Tsirinides, Ethan Roina and Riley LeBlanc. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Reid of Nokomis, Fl.; his aunt Patricia McQuillan of Long Island, NY; several nieces and nephews; a large extended family and many friends. Don's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:00AM in St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk.
