It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Jerome Hurd, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world on December 2, 2024, in Wilton, CT at the age of 96. Born on July 14, 1928, in Sewickley, PA, Don lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mildred Hurd, and their two daughters, Sarah Hurd and Courtney Hurd Petroski, along with Courtney’s husband, David Petroski, and their two children, Noelle and Flynn. Don also leaves behind his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from a former spouse; their children include William Hurd, Donald Hurd Jr., Kevin Hurd, Kimberly Hurd Bamberger, and Cynthia Hurd Olson. He was predeceased by his son, Geoffrey Hurd.

Don was known for his warm and welcoming smile, a wonderful sense of humor, and knack for storytelling. A passionate lover of golf, he enjoyed hitting the greens well into his late 80s, bringing joy and camaraderie to every game. He was a member of the Masonic Masons and served in both the US Navy and US Army.

Loved and respected by all who knew him, Donald Hurd's legacy of kindness and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Don's memory to a charity of your choice.

The family invites you to pay your respects this Saturday, December 7th at Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk CT. Visiting hours will begin at 11am until 1 pm followed by a Masonic Service at 1pm and Prayer Service at 1:30 pm. Burial in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY with Military Honors will be Sunday at 10:00 am.
