NORWALK, CONN. Dolores Marie Contino, 81, of Norwalk, CT passed away at Branford Connecticut Hospice on Friday, January 09, 2009, following a long illness. Ms. Contino, who was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, was the daughter of the late Florence and Carl Contino. "Dee", as she was known by family, was a loving, devoted Mother and Grandmother. She had a keen love and interest in people, especially children. Her strong perceptive abilities allowed her to appreciate the strengths and potential in others with a rare depth. Throughout her life, most who knew her, felt cherished and nurtured by her. Dee is survived by a her daughters Janet Scabrini of CT, Susan Scabrini Valas of CO and Karen Scabrini of Arkansas; her seven grandchildren; her sister, Lucille Campbell; three brothers, Joseph Contino, Dr. Carl Contino, all of Buffalo, and Ray Contino of Atlanta as well as 12 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were her son John, and niece Kim Contino. Dee's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 12, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 9:15AM from the funeral parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Philip R.C. Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Father Michael Boccaccio will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. There will also be a Memorial Service held in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Unity Church 1243 Delaware Ave., at 2:00PM, with a short reception to follow.
