Deborah Fox was born in Anniston, AL in 1952 to Albert and Rosa Lee Long. Along with her siblings, she graduated from Anniston High School and attended Selma then subsequently University of Tennessee. She pledged at many sororities’ prompting a funny story. Pledges were having their shirts ripped during a hazing, and she ripped her own shirt displaying her own courage and individuality. She always shined. Especially when she took on a job at local water company pursuing bio chemic research. While in school she met Abiola Lawal and had her first child, India Long. Together, they moved to Norwalk Connecticut in 1982 where Mrs. Fox worked at historical local, national and international businesses that included Stew Leonard's, Beiersdorf-Nivea and the Postal Service, from which she retired. Several years after residing in Norwalk, CT, Mrs Fox met her first husband Joel Senat and had a second child, Michael Senat.
After she and her husband parted ways, Deborah remained a strong, hardworking and kind mother to her children and a standout colleague among her community and peers. She started a career at the US Postal service where she developed relationships that would change her life. She purchased a home in Bridgeport, CT and eventually fell in love with Richard Fox, whom she married and spent many wonderful years with until his passing in 2001.
Brought up in a Christian home, Deborah confessed her love of Christ at an early age. Nomadic but devout, Deborah regularly attended several local churches and explored her faith with deep discussions with family and friends. She was sure of God's love for her and assured others of His love for them. In her heart and ours, we know that God has welcomed her into His Kingdom.
Deborah was preceded in death by her late husband, Richard Fox, her brothers Thomas Long, Lonnie Long and Frank Long, her sisters Barbara Jackson, Shirley Fowler, and Gloria Hughley.
Deborah is survived by her daughter India Long, her son Michael Senat, her granddaughter Aishala Senat and grandson William Senat, her brothers Broderick Long and Kenny Long and her sister Kay Long, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
