David Nance, 69, of Norwalk, CT was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
David was born on April 21, 1955 to the late Emma Mae Sloan Nance and William “Billy” Nance at Norwalk Hospital.
Throughout his life, David was known for his “go-getter” attitude and hustler mentality. David was jack of many trades, but most paramount was the years he spent in the U.S. Army and the time he spent managing his father’s hair drying service since 1998.
David will always be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to help others. In addition, his profound commitment to his faith. God has always played a pivotal part in David’s life, with the Lord’s Prayer being one of his favorite scriptures.
Family was of the upmost importance to David. Whenever he had the chance to spend time with his family members and close friends, he jumped at the opportunity. David took much joy in being a grandfather to his ten grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Papa”.
David was predeceased by his parents, Emma Mae Sloan Nance and William “Billy” Nance, his son, Dereck Bonaparte, five of his siblings; Calvin Nance, Marion Nance, Stanley Nance, Clifford Nance and Betty “Joyce” Nance as well as his niece, Carmeisha Nance.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children; David R. Nance (CT), Peggy Nance (FL), Dominique Nance (CT), Sharhia Bonaparte (CT), David Bonaparte (CT) and William Bonaparte (CT). His grandchildren; DaMarr Nance, Wynter Nance, Bryana Nance, Nile Diaz, Kareem Ruffin Jr., Ja’Dair Bonaparte, Noah Santiago, Joel Santiago, Khalil Massey and Sa’Mya Massey. His siblings; Ronald Nance (CT), Carol Nance-Bryan (CT), Loretta Nance (FL), Dwight Nance (FL). In addition, his special cousin/sister and nephew, Faye Jones and William Dargan (NC), his uncle, Joe Newell (CT) and his longtime friend, Nora Cowell (VA).
Additionally, David leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends to cherish his memory.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Monday September 23, 2024 from 11:00 am till 12:00 noon at which time the funeral service will begin at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 101 South Main Street Norwalk. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. The Raymond Funeral Home in Historic Norwalk is entrusted with arrangements.
