WESTPORT, CONN / PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL David B. Epstein of Westport, CT and Palm Beach Gardens, FL died peacefully at his home in Westport on December 15th at the age of 77. Born March 21, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Jack and Rose Epstein. He grew up in Bridgeport, CT, and was a graduate of Bucknell University. He began his professional career in advertising, and later established a successful commercial real estate investment and development company. Mr. Epstein co-founded the David and Geri Epstein Private Foundation which provides grants for medical research and educational opportunity. Among the Foundation's signature projects is a college scholarship program for Staples High School graduates. Mr. Epstein, an avid golfer, was a member of Rolling Hills and Birchwood Country Clubs. He was a Trustee of The First Tee Foundation and recently made a major gift to Westport's new Levitt Pavilion construction project. He is survived by his wife Geri (Connell) Epstein; his brothers Robert (Lynn) of Greenwich and Stuart (Judy) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; six nieces and nephews; and 11 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering's Prostate Cancer Research program and the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street.
