NORWALK, CONN David M. Duncan, 59, of Norwalk, passed away on Friday, January 06, 2012 in the Connecticut Hospice of Branford, following an illness. He was the beloved husband to Betty Jane (Godfrey) Duncan of over 35 years. Born on August 03, 1952 in Dublin, Ireland, David was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Dunne) Duncan and attended local schools. He emigrated to the States over 40 years ago, where he made Norwalk his home. David retired in 2000 from R.T. Vanderbilt of Norwalk after 20 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he subsequently worked for the Darien VFW, Post 6933 until the time of his illness. David enjoyed traveling abroad and riding horses. He thoroughly enjoyed making new friends and surrounding himself amongst them and his family. He will be missed by all. Along with his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Margaret Duncan of Norwalk; his sister, Marie Duncan of Ireland; his 4 brothers, Michael Duncan of Trumbull, Conn, Bill Duncan of London, England and John and Paul Duncan, both of Dublin, Ireland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death was a sister, Monica O'Callaghan. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 09, 2012 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating David's life will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton.
