Dan Brown Sedgwick, 78, loving husband to Lisa Brailoff of Norwalk, passed away January 1, 2021. He was born on December 9, 1942 in Aurora, Illinois to the late Dan Brown Sedgwick Sr. and Arlene Winter Sedgwick.

Dan was defined by his kindness, his empathy, and his passion for theater and the arts. He spent his formative years in Westchester County, New York and Tacoma, Washington, was enlisted in the United States Army from 1963-1966, and graduated from the University of Washington. He discovered the theater while stationed in Venice, Italy, and would devote the rest of his life to the arts as a stage manager, production administrator, and theater operations manager. Dan held numerous titles over his 32 years at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, ending as the Director of Operations upon his death. He and Lisa married in 1982 and shared a life full of theater, travel, and adventures together. A lover of all things creative, Dan was an enthusiastic amateur photographer and loved the music of Bach and The Beatles.

Dan is survived by his wife Lisa, his daughters Mary-Claire Flynn, Sarah Sedgwick, and Harriet Sedgwick and their spouses Michael, James, and Daniel, his siblings Geoff, Sarah Rhamey, and Victoria Daniels and their spouses Ray and Joel, and his grandchildren Sarah, James, and Ian Flynn.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to the American Civil Liberties Union or Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS in Dan’s name.
