Dallas O. Ellingson

April 12, 1942 — April 18, 2012

Dallas O. Ellingson, age 70, a Norwalk resident for over 35 years died Wednesday evening April 18, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mason City, Iowa, April 12, 1942 he was the son of the late Orvin and Marie Peterson Ellingson. He was the beloved husband of Rose Carroll Ellingson. Dallas was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the US Navy. He was a long time member of Darien's VFW Post #6933. His hardworking habits started as a young man in Iowa, were he was employed by various farms. Dallas was a union pipefitter having worked for many years with the W.R. Johnson Company in Stamford. He was also a woodworker building cabinets. Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Dallas J. Ellingson and his wife Amanda of Norwalk ,CT a daughter, Heather Drake and her husband Kenneth, of Bridgeport CT, a step-son David Carroll of Norwalk, CT , two sisters, Linda Finn of Garner, Iowa and Sandy Battel of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and three grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend visitation hours that will be held on Saturday April 28,2012 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the St Paul's Episcopal Church, 471 Mansfield Avenue, Darien, CT 06820. The memorial service will take place at 3:00PM. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street has been entrusted with the arrangements. Flowers may be sent directly to the church or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Minister's Discretionary Fund of St. Paul's.
