Carmine Siano

May 28, 1952 — February 9, 2023

Birthday: May 28, 1952

Died February 9, 2023

Carmine Siano, (70), of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away suddenly on February 9, 2023.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Antonietta [Balestriere] Siano, his children Gracie [Rob] Sassano (of Trumbull), Domenick [Stacie] Siano (of Milford), and Francesco [Dana] Siano (of Norwalk), 6 grandchildren (Juliana, Robert, Giada, Lillian, Carmine, and Francesca), and brothers Mario and Davide Siano (of Ischia, Italy).  He was predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Grazia Siano, and his brother, Roberto Siano. He had many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Family was always his top priority and all who knew him will miss him dearly.

Carmine was born on May 28, 1952 in Torre Santa Susanna, Brindisi and grew up in Ischia, Italy.  He trained as a paratrooper in the Italian army and as a merchant marine where he traveled the world. He loved sharing these experiences and enjoyed telling many stories around the dinner table on Sundays.  In 1975 he moved to America when he married his wife and started a family.

Carmine was a dedicated, hard worker his entire life, working jobs at Pepperidge Farm, Silvermine Tavern, and currently still worked at First County Bank.  He often mentioned that he would never retire.  His favorite role, however, was being “Ba” to his three children and “Nonno” to his six grandchildren. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family.  He was always there for them and was quick at helping them fix anything and everything.  Fishing, gardening, cooking and working with his hands were some of the things he loved to do most.  Luckily, he passed these many skills down to his children who will miss his wisdom, help, and guidance.

Carmine was always the life of the party at our many family functions. He was quick witted and always had a story or a joke to share and made connections with ease. He left a long lasting impression on all that met him.

Aside from his love for family and friends, he felt a special connection to animals and the ocean. Coming from the island of Ischia, he loved being close to the water and drove through Calf Pasture Beach daily. He visited animal shelters regularly to see the animals and drop off donations, was always quick to toss a cookie or peanuts out to the squirrels that learned to visit his back deck, and cherished his pet bird, Tina, and cats, Peppy and Romeo.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 15 from 9:00-11:00am at Raymond Funeral Home in Historic Norwalk. A Catholic Mass at St. Thomas at 203 East Avenue will begin at 11:30am, followed by a Christian burial at St. John’s Cemetery.
