Carlos Humberto DeJesus, 67, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Carlos was known for his unwavering passion, kindness, and dedication to those he loved.
Born on January 11, 1958, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Carlos grew up with a deep sense of duty and resilience that shaped his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he embodied courage and honor before retiring as a disabled veteran. Though his service brought challenges, he persevered, never allowing hardship to define him. His passion was matched only by his compassion, and he remained a steadfast protector and supporter of his family and community.
On August 16, 1980, Carlos married the love of his life, Julia Cartagena DeJesus. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Their marriage was a testament to true partnership—through every challenge, including Julia’s bouts with multiple cancers, they stood side by side.
Carlos was a proud and dedicated father to his three sons, Carlos Julio, Carlos Alberto, and Freddie Eduardo DeJesus. He instilled in them the values of love, perseverance, and integrity. Whether offering words of wisdom, coaching, cheering from the sidelines, or simply being present, Carlos was always their biggest supporter. His greatest joy came from watching his sons grow into the men he was so proud of.
In his later years, nothing brought him more happiness than his grandchildren, Angela Camilla, Penelope Celine and Julian Alexander DeJesus. To them, he was not just a grandfather but a storyteller, a protector, and a source of endless love. His eyes would light up whenever they were near, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
Beyond his role as a family man, Carlos was a mentor and a coach, particularly in baseball, a sport he loved deeply. He spent countless hours on the field, not only teaching the game but also shaping the character of the young men he guided. To those he coached, he was more than just a mentor—he was an example of a father and loyal friend.
Carlos will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his selflessness, humor, and unwavering love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His story is one of service, love, and resilience, and though his physical presence is gone, his spirit remains woven into the lives of those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julia; his sons, Carlos Julio, Carlos Alberto, and Freddie Eduardo; his beloved daughter-in-law, Chanel Alexandra DeJesus; and his cherished grandchildren, Angela Camilla, Penelope Celine, and Julian Alexander.
