June 22, 1944 – June 24, 2025

Carl Michael Rock, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 24, 2025, two days after celebrating his 81st birthday. He was born on June 22, 1944, to Mary Shusko Rock and Carl Michael Rock, Sr., and raised in the tight-knit community of Slickville, Pennsylvania.

He was a proud first generation college graduate of Washington & Jefferson College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Shortly after graduation, Carl married his one true love Patricia, immediately entered Officer Candidate School. Carl served in the U.S. Army as a captain and helicopter pilot, flying Hueys with the 119th Assault Helicopter Company. He received the Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, with 4 clusters, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, and was cited for a silver star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations against hostile forces.

Following his military career in the armed forced, Carl worked in performance, productivity and profit Improvement consulting, specializing in lean manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma until his retirement.

Carl’s greatest pride was being a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his three beloved daughters — Dawn Duval (Mike), Heather Devin (Josh), and Danielle Cavnor (Thomas) — and seven cherished grandchildren: Olivia, Von, Colin, Brennan, Dillon, Frankie, and Declan. Known for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep devotion to his family, Carl brought warmth to every table and joy to every room. A passionate cook and lifelong Catholic, his faith and love shaped the lives of those around him.

Carl’s life will be honored in a private family gathering. A service will be held at a later date (TBD) in his home state of PA where he will be laid to rest with his parents.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Carl’s memory to a Parkinson’s research organization of your choice, in honor of his courageous journey with the disease.
