Bruce Meek a longtime Norwalk resident, loving husband of Lynda McKinley Meek, passed away July 28th with his family at his side. Bruce, age 62, was born on April 17, 1951 in New York, NY the son of the late Florence Elizabeth and Lt. Col. Wilbur Meek. Bruce spent the majority of his childhood years in post WW2 Germany where his father was stationed at various Army bases. He enjoyed travel and aviation and fondly experienced soloing small aircraft. He drew inspiration from his late Uncle Richard A. Meek, one of the first and most credited photographers in Sports Illustrated history. This sparked Bruce's interest in film and visual media where he enjoyed a career working for Kew photo labs in 1976 when he moved his family to Norwalk. Later on he founded Slide Zone, and since then was focused on his work as a consultant. In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother David Meek and his wife Jean, daughter Karen Meek, son Steven and his wife Lara Scalzi Meek, son Bryan and his wife Mary McKeever Meek, and his most cherished granddaughter Rachel Meek. A celebration of Bruce's life will be held open to the public on Saturday August 3rd, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street in Norwalk.
