Brandon James Dostie

Brandon James Dostie May 17, 1996 – July 25, 2026. Brandon was born on May 17, 1996, in Portland, Maine. He was the youngest of Pamela Dostie’s four children and the beloved younger brother of Tommy Pelletier, Nicole Barstow, and Chad Barstow. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School. From an early age, Brandon had a memorable personality and many interests. As a child, he loved Blue’s Clues and video games. During his late teens and early twenties, he became an avid Call of Duty player and a devoted fan of OpTic Gaming. His enthusiasm even led him to travel to Los Angeles to watch OpTic compete in person. He was also very skilled at Fortnite and spent many hours enjoying the game with friends and family. Music was another important part of Brandon’s life. He loved many different artists and styles, including Eminem, Charlie Puth, Justin Timberlake, and romantic songs. Inspired by the musicians he admired, Brandon wrote and recorded his own hip-hop music, which he shared on SoundCloud. He also enjoyed creating TikTok videos and was never afraid to dance, perform, or express himself. Brandon possessed a confidence that was uniquely his own and was always willing to be himself. Brandon loved horror movies and enjoyed sports both as a participant and as a fan. He often played pickup basketball and football at the park with family and friends. He was a passionate New England Patriots and Boston Celtics fan and proudly had both teams represented in tattoos on his arms. Brandon especially enjoyed annual Patriots tailgates with family and friends. One unforgettable experience was having the opportunity to go onto the field and help hold the American flag during a Patriots game. Brandon cherished time spent with his family, including a beloved family trip to Mexico in 2014. He especially loved his nieces and nephews, Ariana, Camden, Jacob, and Blake. In 2015, Brandon moved to Connecticut with his mother so they could live closer to his siblings and family. Connecticut remained his home for the final 11 years of his life. Brandon faced personal challenges throughout his life, but he continued searching for peace, stability, and a sense of belonging. During the final months of his life, he began seeking a closer relationship with God. He attended church, spoke about wanting to be baptized, and searched for hope and spiritual guidance. Through every difficult season, Brandon was deeply loved. His mother, siblings, and family remained beside him, encouraging him, caring for him, and reminding him that he was never alone. His passing leaves an immeasurable absence in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Brandon is survived by his mother, Pamela Dostie; his father, Brent Barstow; his siblings, Tommy Pelletier and his wife, Jenny, Nicole Barstow, and Chad Barstow; his nieces and nephews, Ariana, Camden, Jacob, and Blake; and many extended family members and friends. Brandon will be remembered for his love of music, gaming, sports, and family; his creativity; his willingness to dance; his confidence; his perseverance through difficult times; and his courage to express himself and live life in his own distinctive  way. A memorial service celebrating Brandon’s life will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Word Alive Bible Church in Norwalk, Connecticut.
