Bobby J. Ross

Bobby Joe “Uncle B” Ross, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Norwalk Hospital.  Bobby was born in Grover, SC on June 8, 1942 to the late Randolph Ross and the late Elizabeth Leach Ross.

Growing up little Bobby was an avid church-goer.  Bobby was educated by Davison & Compact High School in Kings Mountain, NC.  He then started working as a caddy at Kings Mountain Country Club.  In 1964, he relocated to Norwalk, CT.  He enlisted in in the army.  When he came home, he worked for J. Thomas Excavating LLC. for 42 years.

Bobby Joe was kind to everyone mainly his nieces and nephews.  He was a workaholic.  He moved everyone in Norwalk.  He loved watching westerns, basketball and the ID channel.  Salads were his favorite food, especially the tomatoes.

Bobby Joe was survived by four daughters, Barbara (Victor) Clinton of Gastonia, NC; Theresa Ross Whitaker, Lynette Dyneen Whitaker, and Tricia Dennison, all of Norwalk, CT, and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Four sisters; Marveda McCoy and Polly Benn of Norwalk, CT, Vivian “Dib” Jones of Bridgeport, CT and Dorothy Walker of Washington, DC.  A host of nieces, nephews and other family.  Two special best friends, Ronald Andrews and Harry Hayes.

He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers; J.D. Ross, Levon Ross, Randolph Ross, and Theto Ross and three sisters Josephine Leach, Christine Johnson and May Pauline Ross.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Canaan Baptist Church.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at Canaan Baptist Church, 31 Concord Street, Norwalk, CT.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoyt-Cognetta/Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, In Historic Norwalk, CT.  Please visit www.norwalkfh.com to leave an online condolence for the family.
