NORWALK, CONN Beverly Frankel of Norwalk, Connecticut died Tuesday, September 13th after a brief illness. Beverly is survived by her daughters Leila DeBruin of Germantown, MD and Rachel Frankel, her grandson, Aaron DeBruin of Gaithersburg, MD and son-in-law Paul Billingslea of Ballston Lake, NY. She was predeceased by her daughter Cece Billingslea in May, 2010. Beverly was born to Gertrude and Herman Levy, February 3, 1926, in New York, New York. She was a graduate of Queens College, Flushing, New York where she received a degree in Mathematics. Beverly lived in Norwalk after she married and raised her children here. She retired from Tauck Tours in 1991. Beverly was a worldwide traveller, a huge tennis fan, bridge player and an avid reader. She enjoyed music and the arts, with local theatre productions, Broadway plays, ballet performances, opera and symphonies always on "her calendar." Throughout her 56 years in Norwalk, Beverly was always actively involved with political and community efforts. Beverly was a longtime, dedicated volunteer for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (formerly WCC in Norwalk), Human Services Council, League of Woman Voters (which included working the voter polls), The Norwalk Museum and many other places in the Norwalk area, including the Lifetime Learners Institute right up until her death. On Sunday, October 9th , on what would have been her daughter Cece's 54th birthday, a remembrance for both Beverly and Cece will be held at 11:00 a.m. in The Marvin (Community Room) entrance on 60 Gregory Blvd. and Third Street , Norwalk, CT 06855.
