Barbara L. Pennell

Barbara Louise Pennell, aka “Bobbi”, Passed away in the presence of her loving family on February 10, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 18, 1937 to the late John Frederick and Margaret Sarah Reahm (nee Mayer).

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her immense joy. She enjoyed bowling, rug hooking, her spoon and teacup collections, and cooking. Sadly her recipes went with her. Barbara was a Past President of the Norwalk Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary, a Life Member, and one of the first women to become a full member of the Club. She had a passion for organizing and hosting parties, both at the Club and at her home. Everyone would leave a party anticipating the next one.

She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by her siblings Dorothy, John Kenneth, Jr., and William Fredrick, and her son Lewis J. Pennell. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Lewis W. Pennell; her sons Lee L. Pennell and his wife Marsha of Enfield, CT, Kevin G. Pennell and his wife Joyce of Norwalk, CT, Glenn K. Pennell and his wife Tammy of Port St. Lucie, FL. ;  seven grandchildren, Robert Pennell, Stacy Hydinger, Rachel Dustin, Michele Ruggiero, Tristan Pennell, Alexandra “Lexi” Pennell, and Amanda Cummings; eight great grandchildren, Elle and Wesley Dustin, Anna and Colin Hydinger, Cole, Sloane and Quinn Ruggiero, and  Emerson Cummings; and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.

Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 from 3 to 7 PM at Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall St, Norwalk, CT 06851.
