Barbara Ann Haynie

Barbara Ann Haynie was born September 30 ^th , 1933, at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York, to the late Muriel Bailey and Charles Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Haynie, Jr., Son Keith Haynie, Son-in-law Lorenzo Joseph Baskin, Jr., her brother Charles Bailey, and her sisters Cynthia Bailey and Fay Blakely.

Barbara attended grade school in Jamaica, Queens, New York, and moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut, in the early 1950’s. Barbara married Herman Haynie, Jr., on June 28 ^th , 1952, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Barbara and Herman were members of Grace Baptist Church for over 50 years. Barbara worked locally at Food Fair and C-Town as a manager for many years and in her retirement took care of children who quickly became a part of her family. She was most famously known for her Macaroni & Cheese and there was not one person who did not like it. Some of her fond memories with her grandchildren were piercing their ears, calling them with an “I Love You Call”, reciting one of her many sayings, picking them up and dropping them off to school in her Mercury Sable or easily recognizable green Subaru station wagon, and always being in tow for a good shopping trip to Macy’s and Lord & Taylor.

Barbara was well known throughout the Norwalk Community and departed this life at Wilton Meadows Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Wilton, Connecticut, on Sunday, August 22, 2021, from natural causes attributed to dementia. She leaves to cherish her memory: her four children Terrance Haynie (Liza) of Brookfield, Connecticut, Vanessa Barros (Richard) of Norwalk, Connecticut, Troy Haynie (Ingrid) of Stamford, Connecticut, and Shanda Baskin of Norwalk, Connecticut; her goddaughter Wendy Hankins (Ray) of Norwalk, Connecticut; ten grandchildren Briana Haynie of Los Angeles, California, Michaela Haynie of Wallingford, Connecticut, Bryce Barros of Washington, District of Columbia, Andrea Barros of Naugatuck, Connecticut, Jaelyn Stultz, Mariah and Joey Baskin of Norwalk, Connecticut, Diana Davis, Tyler and Lauryn Haynie of Stamford, Connecticut; two special grandchildren Jordyn Sesler of Norwalk, Connecticut, and Julian Andresen of Norwalk, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday August 27, 2021 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at the Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave. Norwalk. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am.
