Art’s Computing industry career spanned across mid-size to large corporations from the 70’s well into 2K working for corporations such as; Bristol-Meyers Squib – Clairol, Stamford CT., Pepsi-Cola Corporation, Somers New York and Cartus Inc., Danbury CT., prior to his retirement. Art’s computing career expanded in 1979, the very beginning of the Information Security age in Corporate America joining Pepsi-Cola Corporation, as their Senior Information Security Division Manager. There for over eight-teen years, Art designed and developed the initial Pepsi-Cola Information Security and Business Recovery programs, by implementing proactive corporate enterprise security vision, strategy and methodologies into Pepsi-Cola’s IT infrastructure. Art implemented enterprise risk analysis procedures, security solutions, products, tools and policies tuned to the exact needs of the organization, to minimize risk to corporate and customer information assets. For this effort and successful program implementation, Art established himself as a pioneer in the Information Security age now known as Cybersecurity. He mentored and assisted many security professionals and colleagues over the years, toward their professional career industry advancement.
Art had a love for collecting recipes which he enjoyed cooking and sharing his meals with family and friends. Art had many hobbies, in the early days he used to play poker every week for 10 years with close friends. Art loved to watch the New York Yankees and the Rangers. He loved watching and betting on his favorite Jai Aili players at the Bridgeport arena and for many years in arenas in Florida. Art introduced many of his friends (and don't forget Brett) to his passion for salt water fishing. Art enjoyed going to the Casinos and for years going to Saratoga to bet on the horses. Art was an avid reader especially enjoying thousand page books of non fiction. You name it, he read it. In the days of Trivia Pursuit, Art beat everyone with his encyclopedic mind.
Art contributed more than 1,250 hours of service to The Maritime Aquarium during the summer months between 2010 and 2020. During that time, he shared his love for life above, on, and below the waterline of Long Island Sound with visitors of all ages, helping them to gain a better appreciation for the treasures of the oceans and the watersheds surrounding them globally. During the colder months, Art enjoyed spending time in Florida, usually on the edge of the water, or on a charter, looking for the best fishing spots. He regularly sent stories of his discoveries and catches back to his teammates at The Aquarium, and formed many wonderful friendships during his time at The Aquarium. His stories, passion for life, and desire to share them with everyone will be missed by all that met him and knew him.
