NORWALK, CONN Antonio Sforza of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, April 05, 2010 at his home, following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 70. Born in Toritto, Provincia di Bari, Italia on November 15, 1939, Antonio was the son of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Savino) Sforza and attended local schools. He met and married his beloved wife of forty-five years, Grazia (Ferrarese) Sforza and emigrated to Norwalk in 1990. Antonio worked at Via Sforza Restaurant of Westport, the family business, for over fifteen years. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, soccer and traveling. Most of all, his family came first and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all those hearts he touched. Along with his beloved wife, Antonio is survived by three sons, Giuseppe and his wife, Laura (Walthorp) Sforza, Michael and his wife, Angelina (Cambareri) Sforza and Damiano and his wife, Chiara (Cenatiempo) Sforza, all of Norwalk; two daughters, Anna and her husband, Chris Malagise of Norwalk and Rosa and her husband, Enzo Vulpi of Grumo, Provincia di Bari, Italia; six brothers, Damiano Sforza and Frank Sforza, both of Norwalk, Dino Sforza of New Canaan, and Mario Sforza, Giovanni Sforza, and Pasquale Sforza, all of Italia; a sister, Teresa Sforza of Italia; six grandchildren, Christopher, Alessia, Antonio, Michael, Ilaria and Adriana, and also a new grandchild on the way; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding in death was a son, Michael who passed away in 1970. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. Antonio's funeral will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 9:30AM from the funeral parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Rev. Tomi Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk.
