EAST NORWALK, CONN Long Time Owner of Sheffield Island Lighthouse Anton Carl "Duck" Stabell, 92, well known local oyster man, died Sunday morning, January 08, 2012 in Norwalk Hospital. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret; son, Carl Anton; and his brother Thorsten O. Stabell, "Tut". Mr. Stabell was born in East Norwalk on November 30, 1919, son of the late Thorsten and Anna (Podzelni) Stabell. He was a lifelong resident of East Norwalk and Sheffield Island. Mr. Stabell served in the Navy during World War II in the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. Upon his return home he took over the family oyster business in East Norwalk. He is survived by his son Douglas, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. All services will be held privately.
