RAUSCHER, ANTON (TONI) Anton Rauscher (Toni) of Norwalk, passed away just shy of his 80th birthday on Friday, February 3, 2012, at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 9, 1932 in Petschau, Czech Republic, he was the son of Karl & Anna Rauscher. Toni was a retired glazier who spent most of his career at David Schuldiener Inc., of Brooklyn, NY, working on the major buildings in NYC. such as the World Trade Centers, the Statue of Liberty renovations in 1988, the Empire State Building repairs, the Trump Towers mirrored waterfall, the Ellis Island Immigration Center, the showcases for the Egyptian Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum, the tanks at the Coney Island Aquarium, as well as several Lord & Taylor's across the country. He also lent his expertise to major projects around the country such as the Robert F. Kennedy Museum in Boston, and the addition to the National Gallery in Washington DC. He was a member and president of the Norwalk Quartette Club and Director of the Singers since 1986, and a member of the Stamford Liedertafel Folksingers. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Fini Rauscher; his son, Carl Rauscher of Norwalk; his daughters, Dorothy Osanitsch and her husband Will of Milford; Evelyn Rauscher and her husband Andrew of New Haven; Rosemarie Rawson and her husband Ted of Norwalk; Christine Rauscher and her husband Brian of West Haven; 10 ½ grandchildren; his sister, Ellie Standeiner and her husband Toni of Norwalk, a niece, two nephews, as well as relatives in Germany and Austria. The Rauscher family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 06, 2012 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. Toni's funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 07, 2012 at 9:25AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Reverend Sudhir D'Souza is to officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial Contributions in Toni's name may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center, 24 Stevens Street, Norwalk, CT 06850.
