Anita J Brenia

ROWAYTON, CONN Anita J. Brenia of Rowayton, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 09, 2009. She was 76 years old. Born in Cos Cob, Conn on December 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Catherine (Veracalli) Agostino. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1951 and worked for Conde Nast Publications for several years. In 1957, she married her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Walter Brenia who died in 2005. After residing in Stamford for a couple years, she and her husband settled in Rowayton to raise their family. Anita lived life to the fullest and had a heartwarming smile. Her first priority was her family and enjoyed being with them all every chance she had. She loved swimming, exercising, the beach and outdoor concerts. She was a member of the Tully Center of Stamford and was a Girl Scout Leader. Survived is a son, Nicholas Walter Brenia of Rowayton; two daughters, Kathleen Brenia-Rudd of Norwalk and Marilyn and her husband, Henrik B. Gade of Plainville, Conn; three granddaughters, Kirsten Anita, Elizabeth Anne and Sophia; a brother, Palmo Agostino of Portchester, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death were a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Agostino and brother, Bruno Agostino. Anita's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 14, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. Her funeral will be held at 9:50AM on Friday, May 15, 2009 from the parlor, where the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Rowayton Union Cemetery. Those who knew Anita understood her passion of helping others. With that, you may send memorial contributions to a local food bank to help those in need. "We will miss her smile."
