Angelina Ciliberto

November 2, 1937 — January 6, 2014

Angelina Bonaddio Ciliberto, 76, wife of Salvatore Ciliberto and daughter of the late Giovanna "Jenny" Cuiuli Bonaddio Ritzzo and the late Vincenzo Bonaddio, passed away peacefully at Norwalk Hospital Monday evening surrounded by her devoted husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Salvatore she is also survived by a daughter, Rosanne Ciliberto Reyes, and her son-in-law, Jose. A son John Ciliberto. Three grandchildrenAlexis Morales, Rachel Reyes and David Reyes. She is also survived by two brothers Giuseppe (Joe) Bonaddio of Bradenton, FL and Michael Ritzzo, Jr. of Weston, Connecticut; a sister Raffaela Marie Rizzo Fenn, of Amelia Island, Florida. In addition, she is survived by four step-sistersRose Ritzzo Mola and Angelina Ritzzo Casevecchi of Largo, FL; Connie Ritzzo Marotto of Norwalk, and Ann Ritzzo Redican of Meriden, CT. Also, she is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, step-nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family in Connecticut, Florida, Italy and Australia. She is survived by her sister-in-law Maria Bonaddio. She was predeceased by her two older brothers Antonio Bonaddio and Francesco Bonaddio and her sister-in-law Anna Bonaddio of Norwalk. Born November 2, 1937 in Sambiase, Italy, she and her family lived in southern Italy during World War II and experienced the bombing and devastation of war; her father was a casualty of the war. Her mother remarried, and the family immigrated to the United States in 1948, but due to illness, Angelina was retained until the US officials cleared her healthy enough to enter the country. She joined the rest of her family in Norwalk in December 1949 after she traveled by ocean liner from Italy alone at the age of 12. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1955. Angelina attended Norwalk schools; a very bright mind, she mastered English quickly and then went on to work in the printing and early aerospace industry. First working for O'Brien Press and later with Conde Nast Publications, where she met her loving husband. She went on to become an electronic technician at a variety of companies in Norwalk and Stamford including Firing Circuits where she retired from. A fun-loving, hard-working and generous person, Angelina was a devoted wife and mother, an avid cook, baker and gardener. She was well-known for her Italian cookies and homemade pasta sauce. She was a fan of the NY Yankees and she was very proud of her beloved fig tree. In her later years, she most enjoyed visits from family and most especially her lovely grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed. The family will welcome relatives and friends on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4 to 8 PM. Angelina's funeral will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, January 10, 2013 at the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk, following the Mass. Donations in her memory may be made to either; The American Heart Association or the ALS Foundation, which was very dear to her heart.
