Angela Casella Harding
On September 3rd, 2020, Angela Casella Harding passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving daughters. Born on October 9, 1931 and raised by parents John and Lena Casella on the family farm in Swedesboro, NJ, Angela grew up with brothers Sam and Anthony. She graduated at age 16 from Camden Catholic High School in Camden, NJ, where she was remembered as an “outstanding member of the German Club,” a fifer in the Bugle Corps and “a blonde bundle of charms” who was “always smiling.” Angela went on to graduate in 1952 from Immaculata University in Immaculata, PA with a degree in Psychology.
The following year, Angela married former high school classmate Saverio Principato, with whom she had her "3 girls," as Angela liked to say, Jo-Anne, Lynne and Angela. While raising her girls in Moorestown, NJ, Angela also volunteered at their school and for the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed monthly Bridge Club evenings. The family spent most of their summers in northern Italy, where daughter Lynne eventually met her future husband. Following the dissolution of Angela’s marriage, she began a very successful career in the travel industry, working many years as a travel consultant in Haddonfield, NJ for Viking Travel.
After an introduction by a longtime family friend, Angela married Raymond Harding on April 18, 1987 and moved to Cherry Hill, NJ. The blending of the two families added daughter Ellen and son Bill to her life.
Angela and Ray, then the Director of Corporate Development for the Campbell Soup Company, enjoyed traveling together, whether for business or pleasure. They cruised to many exotic locations and visited every continent except Antarctica. On several occasions, Angela and Ray included the entire family on cruises that their children and grandchildren will always remember fondly. Angela and Ray also made sure every year to visit daughter Lynne and family who live in Italy.
Following Ray’s retirement in 1992, Angela and Ray relocated to North Palm Beach, FL. They also purchased a home in Southbury, CT to spend summers and holidays with their grandchildren, who referred affectionately to Angela as "Mimi". For Alessandro, Chiara, Andrew, Massimo, Justin, Keith, Jean-Paul and Dylan – their Mimi will always have a special place in their hearts. In 2014, Angela and Ray made their final move to Wilton, CT to be closer to daughter Jo-Anne.
Angela was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray and his son Bill, by her parents, and by her brothers Sam and Anthony Casella. She is survived and missed by her daughters Jo-Anne (Kevin) Morley, Lynne (Domenico) Noceti, Angela (Leonard) St.Pierre, and Ellen (Kim) Schmidt, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Very sadly, given the global pandemic, the family will not be able to receive visitors. Angela will be remembered privately by her daughters and their families.
