Angel Manuel Alvarez

Angel Alvarez, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, died on March 13, 2022.  He was 76.

Angel was born on April 11, 1945, in Utuado, Puerto Rico.  He lived in White Plains, N.Y. as well as Norwalk, Conn. before settling in Bridgeport, Conn. more than 20 years ago.

Angel is survived by his loving wife, Tomasa “Delmy” Alvarez, whom he married On May 2, 2015, after being together as a couple for 30 years.  He is survived by four children, Miguel Alvarez, Maria Alvarez, Francisco Moises (Lesley), and Carmen Flores (Moises), as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and six siblings. He also leaves behind a cherished niece and nephew, Erica Cruz and Marco Flores, for whom he was a caring father figure. He was predeceased by his parents, Aurora Batista Rivera and Miguel Alvarez Velez.

Angel had a unique way of touching the hearts of those he met. He was a traditional man with strong values and work ethic, and he was a devout Catholic who attended Sunday mass regularly. He had a passion for gardening, particularly for his cherished vegetable garden, and also enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Those who knew Angel know that he was a very giving person. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “Tatita.”  He will be missed dearly.
