Allen Johnson passed away on January 9, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 69.  Allen was born and raised in Cedar Grove, North Carolina to parents James Johnson Sr. and Lillian Graves-Johnson.  Allen spent the younger years of his life working with his parents and siblings on the family farm cropping tobacco.  Allen graduated from Orange High School located in Hillsborough, North Carolina in 1969, and soon after decided to relocate to Connecticut where his older brother James Johnson Jr. was residing.  Allen along with his lifetime best friend Sam Hester who also was from North Carolina, along with his brother James Jr spent many years working at Nash Engineering as a tester.  Allen was also employed driving petroleum equipment for Ensign Company and was last employed driving the bus for Norwalk Transit District which he retired doing.

When Allen was not working he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends around the neighborhood, and was blessed to make most people smile with his wit and charm.  Allen loved clean cars and when the car was clean it was time to go riding.  Allen was strong willed and had a way about him to make sure he got his point across.  Allen was a Godly man and a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church.  Allen loved all of his family and children and his most recent hobby of ensuring that he spent as much time with his grandchildren as possible.  Allen was a slender, tall, handsome man with a smile and a presence that was smooth and gravitating, and when he got your attention it was often hard to walk away from the conversation.

Allen was predeceased by his parents James Johnson Sr. and Lillian Graves-Johnson, his older brothers, John Johnson, James Johnson Jr (Pig Johnson), and William Earl Johnson.  Allen is survived by his sisters Gloria Jean Long, and Connie Currie, and the mothers of his children, Mahalia Williams, and Rebecca Goss.  Allen is also survived by his children Rodney Williams Sr. and Latisha Williams, Tridina Williams, and Allandra Goss.  Allen is also survived by his grandchildren Rodney Williams Jr., Kevin White, Helen Williams, Mia Kearney, and soon to be born Terrell Beckman Jr.  Allen is survived by his lifetime brother Sam Hester, and all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.  Allen will forever be loved, cherished and missed by all.
