WILTON, CONN / BOCA RATON, FL Alice H. Kosh of Wilton, former eighteen year resident of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Tuesday, March 02, 2010 in the Greens at Cannondale, following an illness. She was 85. Born in Brooklyn, NY on July 10, 1924, Mrs. Kosh was the daughter of the late Abraham and Esther (Zweikaft) Helfman and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School of New York City in 1942. She continued her education at Hofstra University, where in 1969 she obtained her degree in Sociology. Mrs. Kosh was a bookkeeper for Manhattan physician Dr. Hiromi Shinya, a pioneer of modern colonoscopy techniques, for over ten years. She also worked as a secretary for the Long Beach School District for many years. She volunteered her time at the Cancer Care Foundation of New York and the Boca Raton Library, both for many years. Mrs. Kosh was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. Socializing with her friends, watching films, enjoying Big Band music and dancing were other hobbies. Mrs. Kosh was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her passion was her family, and she loved to surround herself with them. She will be missed by all. Mrs. Kosh is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Lee A. Kosh; her son, Mitchell A. and his wife, Anne Marie Kosh of Wilton; her daughter, Susan F. and her husband, Robert J. Pfeffer of Glen Cove, Long Island; her brother, Sidney Helfman of Horseheads, NY; five grandchildren, Michael, Adam, Jeremy, Daniel and David; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were two brothers, Sol and Benjamin. Family and friends may gather at 10:30AM on Friday, March 05, 2010, in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. Mrs. Kosh's funeral service will be held at NOON in the parlor with Rabbi Eugene S. Katz officiating. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport. Kindly omit flowers.
