Alfred Mennona

Alfred Mennona, known to his friends as Fred or Scooter, died peacefully on October 13, 2018 at Autumn Lake Health Care I Norwalk with his devoted wife of 40 years, Olivia Rodrigues Mennona by his side. He was born in Stamford on April 25, 1933 and was a son the the late Patsy and Catherine Seymour Mennona.

Alfred was a retired Truck Driver and he started his 40 year career with Baunty Company which was sold to Telesco and finished with HI-HO Daddario in Stamford all the while being a member of the Truck Driver Union #191.

Fred enjoyed music, dancing, gardening and yard landscaping but most of all working on cars. He was a very caring person, if someone needed help or a ride he would be there to lend a hand.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Debbie Mennona and Joyce Tournas and her husband Art; a sister-in-law who would help care for him, Joanne Rodrigues; a brother Joseph Mennona and sister Maryann Carson; another sister-in-law Marie Pounds; two grandchildren, Jason and Stacy; many nieces and nephews from East to West coast. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, James, John, Tony and Arthur and two sisters, Catherine Johnson and Judy Pulmer.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday from 10:00 am till noon at the Hoyt-Cognetta-Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. Please visit www.norwalkfh.com for more information.
