Alan C. Stewart age 71 of Norwalk, passed away March 24, 2014 in Norwalk Hospital. Mr. Stewart was born on September 28, 1942 in Cambridge, MA and was a son the late Francis J. and Ruth Lindblah Stewart. Alan attended the Waltham Schools and later attended college at North Park in Chicago. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War and later re-located to Norwalk were he first worked for Children's Services and later had been a Social Worker for the Darien Board of Education. He was voted Social Worker of the year in 2004. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Kendall F. Stewart; three aunts, Barbara K. Lindblah Fontaine, Dorothy Stewart Miller and Eleanor Stewart Nason. He is survived by his nieces and nephews as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews and his many close longtime friends in Connecticut. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on April 5, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. Prayer service and eulogies begin at 1:00 PM. (There will be time for friends to share thoughts, stories and feelings about Alan.) Burial will take place at a later date in MA.
