Agnes Ethel Boros Mackno age 97, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, peacefully passed away on November 6, 2017 in her home. Agnes was born on October 8, 1920 and was a daughter to the late John and Agnes Kovacs Boros, both emigrating from Hungary in 1907 and 1912 respectively. In her youth Agnes was a seamstress for local clothing manufacturers, and later worked in the Norwalk School Commissary as well as several individual schools for the Board of Education in Norwalk. Agnes had a passion for cooking, also enjoying gardening, reading, bowling and golf when time permitted.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband john Mackno; two sons, Thomas and Robert; a brother John Boros and a sister Helen Kucinski.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephew, John (Paula) Boros, Jr. of Shelton, Donna Bedell of Norwalk, Arlene Vandersall of Florida and Margaret (Len) Putzig of Trumbull, as well grandchildren Rachel Mackno Matthias and Justin Mackno of Texas.
Agnes was a senior member of the Calvin Reformed Church (formerly the Hungarian Reformed Church), 19 Lexington Avenue in Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the church.
Calling hours and service will be held on Friday November 17, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm in Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street.
