Adele Immerso

Adele Immerso (Natale) was born on March 11, 1922, in Popoli, Italy, to Domenica and Thomas Natale.

Adele immigrated to America in 1929 and settled in the Bronx.  She is a graduate of Hunter College; earning first a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and then continuing on to an M.A.  She worked as both a teacher and then as an interpreter in the Office of Censorship where she met her future husband, Joseph Stephen Immerso.  They were married on June 22, 1946 and moved to Queens, New York.  Adele was predeceased by Joseph in 1998 after 52 years of marriage.

She is survived by her three children, Stephen, (married to Tracy), Thomas, (married to Anne Marie) and Mary-Beth Petersen, (engaged to Kevin Hill); her three grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew and Dana; her sister, Lydia Corso; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Adele has been an active resident at The Greens at Cannondale in Wilton, CT, for the past 14 years where she formed many loving relationships with the caring staff there and could often been found engaging in competitive bingo.

Adele was a skilled cook, a talented embroiderer, and an avid follower of politics and a devout Catholic.  She was a very devoted wife, mother and Nana who profoundly loved her family and friends; and was in turn, cherished by them.  Her wit, love and zest for life will be missed by all.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday January 7, 2018 from 2:00 until 6:00 pm in Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd. Wilton. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY at 2:00 pm.
