NORWALK, CONN Emily Pease Haas of Norwalk, CT died Sunday morning December 13, 2009 at Norwalk Hospital of ovarian cancer. She was 81 years old. Emily was predeceased by her parents Myrtle Stowe Pease Humphrey and John Pease, her stepfather Fred Humphrey, and two sisters, Marion Pease Davis Sallani and Dorothy Pease Beecher. Surviving Emily are her husband of 55 years William Haas of Norwalk; two sons, Donald Haas of Stamford and David Haas and his wife Suzanne Haas with Emily's granddaughter Julia Haas, all of Fairfield. Also surviving Emily are her brother John Pease of Norwalk and her sister Ellen Pease Percey of Richmond, VA. Emily was born May 27, 1928 in St. Petersburg, PA and moved to Norwalk as a young child. She graduated from Norwalk High School 1945. Emily and Bill were married at the Norwalk United Methodist Church (NUMC) Sept. 11, 1954. Emily served as head librarian at Norwalk's Cranbury Elementary School for many years and was active at the NUMC, as a member of the choir in her youth and chairman of the Missions Commission later in life, until her health would not allow. Emily's hobbies were reading, music, genealogy, and growing and showing African Violets. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11:00AM in the Norwalk United Methodist Church, 718 West Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Norwalk United Methodist Church, 718 West Avenue. Special thanks to Emily's health care aid and friend Joan and the caring and compassionate nurses at Norwalk Hospital.
